June 20, 2022 | Bill Esler
In this episode, host Ethan Abramson sits down with Ronnie Fulton, owner of the Central Kentucky-based furniture company Fulton Fine Woodworks.
Fulton put his time in the corporate world before deciding that following his dream of owning a furniture company was right for him. But once he made that jump, he never looked back.
By making a name for himself as a high-end builder, Fulton took on the projects that no one else could do, setting him apart in the industry. This also put him in the enviable position not only to charge for what he needs to make on each project, but also to be able to charge for what he wants to make on each project.
Follow along as we talk about how to move from working in the corporate world to working for yourself, the ways you can check your pricing against national rates, and why people are taking a fresh look at a path that used to be frowned upon—careers in the trades—and much more.
In each edition of IWF Network News, Building a Furniture Brand host Ethan Abramson talks to your favorite furniture makers and woodworking professionals to give you a look at the business behind the furniture and cabinetry business.
You can meet Ethan Abramson and some of the woodworkers featured in his podcasts at the IWF Woodworking Influencers Lounge, sponsored by Shaper Tools, in Hall A Booth A10620, at IWF 2022.
