Norwood, MA—Metropolitan Cabinets & Countertops has established $23 million in financing with Eastern Bank.
Founded in 1984, Metropolitan is a family-run business that provides custom cabinetry and countertops to residential and commercial customers across New England. Metropolitan has grown from a three-person company into a sizable regional cabinet and countertop business with 160 employees, a 150,000-sq.-ft. manufacturing facility in Norwood, MA, and four showrooms around Boston.
Eastern Bank financing includes a revolving line of credit as well as financing for various real estate holdings. “Metropolitan is excited to be working with Eastern Bank,” says Stuart Elfland, president and founder of Metropolitan Cabinets & Countertops.
Metropolitan moved from Natick, MA to Norwood in 2005, then expanded that site to 150,000 square feet in 2017. In addition to selling cabinets to the trade, Metropolitan also supplies the multi-family residential market from two-unit buildings to high rises.
Using computer-driven manufacturing, Metropolitan Cabinets & Countertops cabinet boxes are built combining doweled and glued construction with an automated case clamping, which produces a strong, rigid cabinet that is true and square, the company says. Since 2008, Metropolitan’s factory has been a certified member of the KCMA’s Environmental Stewardship Program and practices sustainable manufacturing, making it the only Massachusetts cabinet manufacturer that’s ESP certified, notes Elfland.
