According to the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association’s (KCMA) monthly Trend of Business Survey, participating cabinet manufacturers reported an increase in overall cabinet sales of 11.6% for December 2020 compared to the same month in 2019. Custom sales are up 19.3%, semi-custom increased 12.5% and stock sales increased 9.6%.
When looking at the month-to-month comparison, cabinet sales held fairly steady. Overall sales were down 0.2% in December 2020 compared to November 2020. Custom sales increased 1.8%, semi-custom sales decreased 2.2% and stock sales increased 0.7%.
Overall 2020 year-to-date cabinet sales are up 2.0% when compared to the same time period in 2019. Custom sales increased 0.4%, semi-custom sales decreased 1.9% and stock sales increased 5.1%.
Survey participants include stock, semi-custom and custom companies whose combined sales represent approximately 75 % of the U.S. kitchen cabinet and bath vanity market. KCMA is the major trade association for kitchen cabinet and bath vanity manufacturers and key suppliers of goods and services to the industry. KCMA has been compiling and reporting industry sales data for more than 40 years.
