The National Wildlife Federation awarded Florida furniture chain City Furniture with a High Score for responsible wood sourcing practices.
The 2023 Wood Furniture Scorecard, awarded annually by the National Wildlife Foundation and the Sustainable Furnishings Council, has given its “High Score” award to City Furniture, the 23-unit retail chain based in Fort Lauderdale.
According to City, the award’s goal “is to encourage furniture retailers, large and small, to implement robust policies that drive responsible wood sourcing practices through their complex supply chains.”
City, whose stores are all in Florida, cited its 2040 Green Promise as a vital part of Its strategy. “It’s a three-part journey that involves our green delivery fleet, smart facilities, and large-scale recycling efforts. We are dedicated to sustainability and committed to working with our partners, vendors and organizations to create sustainable supply chains for products that ultimately benefit the environment.“
In acknowledging the award City said “Receiving a high score on the 2023 Wood Furniture Scorecard is a nod to our responsible wood sourcing. Shout out to Jameson Dion and our amazing global sourcing & merchandising team for making this incredible achievement possible. We look forward to innovating, and continuously improving in this area to get us to our 2040 goal.”
