Canadian Furniture Manufacturer Prepak Plans $27M U.S. Plant

Whittset, NC—Canada’s Prepac Manufacturing Ltd., a designer and manufacturer of drop ship, ready-to-assemble (RTA) home furniture headquartered in Delta, BC, selected Whittset, NC for its new U.S. manufacturing center. Prepac will invest $27 million in capital expenditures to create more than 200 new jobs.

“We appreciate the outstanding support provided by the State of North Carolina and Greensboro/Guilford County as Prepac increases our footprint in the North American market,” says Jim Mathison, president of Prepac. “The Greensboro-High Point and Guilford County market offer an excellent talent base and logistical advantage as we grow our business and serve our loyal customers.” Prepac Manufacturing was acquired in 2019 by TorQuest Partners, a private equity firm based in Toronto.

The Guilford County Economic Development Alliance first met company officials one year ago when the company began searching for a new location, referring to the project as “Project Maple.” Prepac needed the right mix of a talented workforce, ideal location for logistics and a building ready to go.

The company will be located at a new spec building in the Rock Creek Center manufacturing park in Whittset. “Prepac has been a pleasure to work with and we look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with this group,” said Taylor Williams, president of Williams Development Group. “Rock Creek continues to be a beacon of manufacturing and distribution growth within the region and we look forward to delivering future projects and recruitment victories for the area.”

Guilford County Commission Chair Jeff Phillips added, “I’m very thankful that Prepac chose Guilford County. We realize they could have located almost anywhere but ultimately selected our community for such an important corporate expansion. We look forward to growing with and supporting the company long into the future.”
