Cabinet manufacturers reported an increase in overall cabinet sales of 19.7% for July 2022 compared to the same month in 2021, reports the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association’s (KCMA).
But its monthly Trend of Business Survey for July 2022 found participating cabinet manufacturers reporting a drop in sales of 12.5 percent compared to June 2022. Volume also declined, with 16.4 percent fewer cabinet units produced.
KCMA’s monthly report by category of cabinet were all ahead for July 2022 versus July 2021:
Overall sales up 19.7%
Custom sales up 15.6%
Semi-custom up 28.3%
Stock sales up by 14.8%
Estimated cabinet quantity decreased 0.8%
The month-to-month comparison was not as rosy (July 2022 compared to June 2022):
Overall sales down 12.5%
Custom sales down 16.1%
Semi-custom down 8.3%
Stock sales down 14.7%
Estimated cabinet quantity down 16.4%
But YTD 2022 to 2021 remains strong:
Overall sales up 15.6%
Custom sales up 17.2%
Semi-custom up 11.5%
Stock sales up by 18.4%
Estimated cabinet quantity decreased 1.3%

Survey participants include stock, semi-custom and custom companies whose combined sales represent approximately 75% of the U.S. kitchen cabinet and bath vanity market. KCMA is the major trade association for kitchen cabinet and bath vanity manufacturers and key suppliers of goods and services to the industry. KCMA has been compiling and reporting industry sales data for more than forty years.
