WICHITA, KS – Canada’s Superior Millwork Ltd., which operates as Superior Cabinets, says an agreement has been finalized to acquire R.D. Henry & Company, based in Wichita, KS.
Formerly known as Custom Cupboards, R.D. Henry & Company was established in 1981 by brothers Ron and Dan Henry. Over the years it has built a solid reputation for quality custom and semi-custom furniture-grade cabinetry, both in frameless “full access” design, as well as framed cabinets. It is also well regarded “for producing incredible finishes,” according to a press release from Superior.
The acquisition also portends a re-entry into the U.S. cabinet market by the Buller family, associated with Norcraft Companies until 2015. Mark Buller (right), as chairman and CEO of Norcraft Companies, executed the 2015 sale of Norcraft – manufacturer of the Mid Continent, UltraCraft, Starmark and Fieldstone brands – to MasterBrand Cabinets Inc., the cabinet division of Fortune Brands Home and Security, for $600 million.
“We look forward to working with the entire team at R.D. Henry & Company and to continue beautifying more homes with quality cabinets,” says Mark Buller (above), executive chairman of Superior Cabinets. “Their incredible team and product offering really allows us to fill an important piece of our portfolio.”
“We are excited to finalize this agreement,” Buller says. “The R.D. Henry brand and culture dovetails perfectly for us to continue our growth and expansion within the continental United States.”
Founded in 1980, Superior Cabinets has grown to become one of western Canada’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of kitchen cabinets. Superior Millwork Ltd., which operates as Superior Cabinets, was acquired in 2018 by the Buller Family of Winnipeg, MB. Buller reappeared in the market with the 2018 acquisition of Superior Cabinets.
Buller says that both Superior Cabinets and R.D. Henry & Company will operate on a business-as-usual basis, focusing on providing what they both do best, providing the best-in-industry customer experience, outstanding design solutions and the finest product portfolio. R.D. Henry & Co. will continue to operate separately as a subsidiary of Superior. The group of companies will each continue their expansion plans into new markets in Canada and the continental United States as their top priority for the next few years.
