West Hempfield Township, PA – Armstrong Industries wood flooring business, which spun off from Armstrong Industries in a $100 million deal in December 2018, will establish its own headquarters in West Hempfield Township, PA, a few miles from the Lancaster headquarters of its former parent. The deal, which closed in January 2019, leaves the luxury vinyl tile and other non-wood flooring business with Armstrong.
In the portfolio of American Industrial Partners (AIP) and operating as AHF Products, it manufactures solid and engineered hardwood flooring products. With sales of $390 million, it employs 1,780 at 6 manufacturing sites and one distribution center in the U.S. American Industrial Partners is the same entity that acquired Armstrong’s cabinet businesses and which last year acquired Elkay Cabinets. The headquarters relocation is expected to create nearly 70 jobs, according to the office of Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolfe, which announced the news.
“This expansion by AHF demonstrates what so many manufacturers in Lancaster County and across Pennsylvania are finding – that this commonwealth is the best place for a manufacturing company to grow,” said Governor Wolf. AHF plans to invest at least $985,000 into the project, which is expected to bring over 69 jobs from the former Armstrong floor business, and create 68 new ones within three years.
“We are delighted to continue our operations here,” said Brian Carson, president and CEO of AHF Products. AHF received a $150,000 Pennsylvania First grant from Pennsylvania’s Department of Community and Economic Development. The Governor’s office Action Team, which reports directly to the governor and works with businesses that are considering locating or expanding in Pennsylvania, coordinated, along with the Economic Development Company of Lancaster.
AHF manufactures solid and engineered hardwood flooring products that are sold through full-line flooring distributors, big box home centers, national flooring retailers, and hardwood specialty distributors under the brand names of Armstrong, Bruce, Capella, Homerwood, Robbins, and T. Morton. The company is headquartered in Lancaster with manufacturing operations across the United States.
