In marking Military Appreciation Month the retail chain is holding a number of celebrations across its more than 250 locations.
As its done for many years, 84 Lumber will mark the month of May with a series of events honoring Military Appreciation Month, including charitable functions and celebrations for its customers and employees.
“Their invaluable contributions to this nation are admirable, and we take great pride in commemorating their accomplishments,” Maggie Hardy, owner and CEO of 84 Lumber, said in announcing the month-long event. Among this year’s activities are a first-ever celebrity hockey game in partnership with the Malone Family Foundation, featuring 30 current and former NHL players as well as members of veteran and first responder groups.
Other events sponsored by the company, based in Eighty Four, PA, include honoring veterans at Pittsburgh Pirate baseball games, an Armed Forces Fireworks Night at a Pirates game on May 24 against the Atlanta Braves where a company store manager who was also a combat medic veteran will throw out the first pitch and a $5,000 donation to the Humane Animal Rescue group in Pittsburgh in support of veterans wishing to adopt shelter pets.
This is the ninth consecutive year for the program which is dedicated to recognizing veterans and their families for their contributions. “It is a privilege to offer our unwavering support to our esteemed military veterans and their families,” said Hardy.
