Atlanta, GA—Izzy Swan will appear at the IWF 2022 Woodworking Influencers Lounge.
One of America’s most-followed woodshop operators—with nearly one million subscribers to his instructional YouTube channel—Swan is a magnetic personality, emanating a passion for the woodshop business and authoritative mastery of the craft.
In his latest video, Swan shows how to build a jig that simplifies placement of drill points in chair legs for stretcher dowel holes. Wielding a 90-degree drill head and a Bosch chop saw, the beefy-armed craftsman is clear and succinct in demonstrating the utility of the jig.
“I have a passion to teach and share,” says Swan. “When YouTube came around I thought this would be a great platform to build a community and share my knowledge…a way to take my community to the next level.”
This isn’t woodcraft 101, more like Woodshop 4.0, with what Swan describes as out-of-the box thinking and an unusual mix of artful design and engineering interest. The chair stretcher jig video, based on an idea by woodworker Mike Taylor, garnered nearly 75,000 views since it was posted a few weeks ago, adding to a tally of more than 119 million views of his videos since Swan launched his YouTube channel in May, 2008. Swan’s Instagram has 145,000 followers.
“With some help of many other creators—founding members—I was able to do this,” Swan says. In addition to woodworking and his media activity, Swan sells templates
Swan is among some two dozen online woodworking personalities attendees can meet at IWF 2022, with scheduled appearances spread over the four days of the show. Meet Izzy Swan in Booth A10620 at the Woodworking Influencers Lounge, sponsored by exhibitor Shaper (Booth A10630).
