IWF 2022 featured hundreds of new products, including materials such as glues, fasteners, hardwood, and panel, of interest to shops of any size.
It also included equipment geared specifically for larger operations, such as Biele’s integrated materials processing solutions for automated panel and lumber machining systems. The latest example is an OSB shake shingle production line that just came onstream at Louisiana Pacific’s Manitoba plant.
Perfect for small shops but applicable to any scale of wood manufacturing is Mirka’s new DEOS 3×4 power hand sander. It fits in tiny spaces that had been relegated to manual sanding only. And it comes with the innovative vibration sensor and Bluetooth low energy technology, to track how consistently such sanding work is done.
Innovative materials abounded, such as Rehau’s ingrain™ wood fiber laminate, under its Rauvisio line. Crafted in Italy, ingrain is new to the North American market—a wood fiber laminate made of cellulose fibers derived from wood pulp bonded using vegetable-based adhesives. With high-definition printing and precision Rehau LaserEdge™ duo-gloss embossing, Rauvisio ingrain is available in 15 colors of PSA laminate and edgeband as well as double-sided boards, finished panels and modern cabinet doors. The Italian wood-fiber paper is laid-up stateside on a particle board core using PUR glue and seamlessly finished LaserEdge™ for a monolithic effect. Grain-matched panels with expanses up to 47 in by 119 in (119 mm by 302 cm) are also possible.
