Columbia City, IN—Titus Group, a global supplier of high-volume cabinet hardware componentry, acquired Precision Plastics in Columbia City, IN.
Precision Plastics with over 60 years of manufacturing experience and a long history supplying the automotive sector will provide Titus (IWF Booth C1642) added capacity to meet its current customers’ needs, says Titus Group North America CEO Matthew Hurley.
“We have looked at opportunities to onshore more of our manufacturing in the United States for quite some time,” says Hurley. “We look forward to welcoming Precision Plastics’ team and supporting them with investment in current and new programs. The introduction of Titus Group’s proprietary zinc metal and automation capabilities will enable us to develop a wider range of customer specific solutions locally.”
In 2021 Titus Group provided over three billion connectors and functional hardware components to the worldwide furniture, kitchen and appliance industries.
Titus is a leader in OEM supply of damping engineering. Titus dampers provide soft and silent closing of drawers and drawer slides used in furniture worldwide. Its dampers for drawers can be used as a component built into the drawer system and upgraded with the housing, trigger and spring to be clipped onto an undermount runner, requiring no major modifications to the existing drawer.
“Titus is no stranger to U.S. manufacturing,” says Titus Group Chairman Robert Appleby. “In the 1980s, Titus established itself on the West Coast as a connector manufacturer for the RTA furniture industry.”
Globally based in the U.K., Titus’ U.S. business is headquartered in Bellevue, WA, and produces functional hardware like drawer glides and slides, and door hinges for the closets, kitchen cabinetry, and furniture markets. “The addition of Precision Plastic’s experienced plastic engineering team to the Titus Group’s current U.S. logistics center and customer support staff which have been established in the Midwest for many years enables us to introduce new products from new processes and enhance our delivery capabilities to all our North American customers.”
