DAM WELLENS, HGTV and @Countrytables

HGTV personality Dan Wellens is also a real-life woodworker, operating Country Tables in Cologne, MN.

Izzy Swan is perhaps a paradigm of influential professional woodworkers. One of America’s most-followed woodshop operators—with nearly one million subscribers to his instructional YouTube channel—Swan is a magnetic personality, emanating a passion for the woodshop business and authoritative mastery of the craft. And he will be appearing at the IWF Woodworking Influencers Lounge.

Nolan Thompson’s Instagram @NolanBuilt is action-packed with videos of his work in the woodshop, from sawing and CNC routing, to sanding, finishing and installation.

So what is a “woodworking influencer?” The woodworking industry has long relied on knowledgeable craftspeople with mastery of specific skills, and the ability and willingness to share their knowledge. Educators, of course, and consultants fit into this definition of “influencers.”

RONNIE FULTON, FULTON FINE WOODWORKING

Ronnie Fulton operates Fulton Fine Woodworking in Georgetown, KY, with big followings on YouTube https://youtube.com/c/fultonfinewoodworks and Instagram https://www.instagram.com/fultonfinewoodworks/

But so do the ranks of craftspeople willing to share peer-to-peer. Knowledge and skill sets have been traditionally transmitted through apprenticeships within woodworking companies.

SARA LISTI, TOOL GIRL’S GARAGE

Woodworker Sara Listi posts videos and tool reviews at Tool Girl’s Garage on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/toolgirlsgarage/ at Twitter @toolgirlsgarage, and on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/toolgirlsgarage/

The internet, a natural extension of word-of-mouth advertising for business, gives woodworkers the ability to communicate to their local prospects, but also provides exposure to peers far and wide.

KEITH JOHNSON, KEITH JOHNSON CUSTOM WOODWORKING

The handle KJ Sawdust refers to Keith Johnson, who operates Keith Johnson Custom Woodworking, and shows how to build projects at his YouTube channel, which has garnered 13 million views.

This phenomenon has given rise to a cohort of woodworking influencers, now an important force in communicating trends in technology, tools, materials, and techniques for producing furniture, cabinetry, and casegoods to hundreds of thousands of woodworking professionals.

CHAR MILLER-KING, WOODENMAVEN.COM

Char Miller-King, owner of TheWoodenMaven.com, has been building custom furniture for 15 years. She has expanded her business to include continuing education, and is ubiquitous on the Internet. GMC recently featured her business in an advertising spot that can be viewed on YouTube.

Char Miller-King is an influencer on the rise. Her passion for woodworking brought her to a change in careers, and as her profile at Popular Woodworking details, she has expanded her sphere from commercial woodworking to industry evangelist, training young people in the joy and fulfillment to be found in the craft.

MARK ROBERTSON, @MARK.THEBUILDER

Mark Robertson is all about the brand. His popular Instagram @mark.thebuilder followed by thousands shows him in the shop, and doing installations.

The IWF Woodworking Influencers Lounge (sponsored by Shaper, in Hall A Booth A10620) will serve as a gathering spot for woodworking social media personalities to meet with their thousands of fans during the show.

JONATHAN KATZ-MOSES, @JKATZMOSES

Jonathan Katz-Moses sells woodworking specialty tools and jigs, and posts project videos on YouTube where he has over 450,000 subscribers to katzmoseswoodworkingshop.

Fifteen popular woodworkers will appear every 30 minutes over the course of three afternoons—Tuesday, August 23, Wednesday August 24, and Thursday August 25, beginning at 1 p.m. in the Woodworking Influencers Lounge, Booth A10620.

MIKE COFFEY, COFFEY CUSTOM BUILDS

Woodworker Mike Coffey, founder of Coffey Custom Builds, is followed by fans on YouTube https://youtube.com/c/CoffeyCustomBuilds and Instagram https://www.instagram.com/coffeycustombuilds/

Each of these masters has found a following among the millions employed in the woodworking and related industries. One example is Ronnie Fulton, who opened Fulton Fine Woodworks in Georgetown, KY 10 years ago. Provide design, build and install services for residential and commercial clients, as well as architects, designers and area remodelers.

At IWF 2022 in Atlanta, meet Woodshop Mike at the Woodworking Influencers Lounge, sponsored by Shaper Tools at Booth A10620 . He is followed by tens of thousands on FacebookInstagram, and YouTube. His step-by-step videos, projects plans, and custom-designed shop tools and aids are popular sellers.

A passion for sharing has turned some woodworkers into mentors for thousands of their peers. The IWF Woodworking Influencers collectively have a reach of more than 4 million individuals who share their love of the art, design, and craft of woodworking.

DOC WRIGHT, THE WRIGHT EDGE

Doc Wright operates a custom furniture business, The Wright Edge, and posts at Facebook https://www.facebook.com/The-Wright-Edge-1796269350695250/ and Instagram https://www.instagram.com/thewrightedge/
