Counting Down to the International Mass Timber Conference

It’s just over two months until the three-day event in Portland, OR that will highlight the world of mass timber building and design.

This year celebrates ten years for the conference, which will be held at the Portland Convention Center from March 30 through April 2 and includes speakers, workshops, tours, case studies, social events and an exhibition of goods and services for the mass timber business.

We believe that a greater use of cross-laminated timber and other mass timber products is the innovative, disruptive, modern and sustainable choice necessary for building in a fast-growing world,” show organizers wrote on their website. “And we believe in giving our conference attendees the highest quality experience for your event dollar – a relentless pursuit of value so you can learn more, connect better, build smarter and take your business to the next level while helping make the world a better place.”

A highlight of the conference will be the keynote presentation from Japanese architect Kengo Kuma is speaking for the first time at the conference. Named by Time Magazine in 2021 as the world’s most influential architect, he is best known for his use of wood in mixing traditional Japanese design with contemporary elements.

Workshops and case studies will address specific structures and construction techniques, providing attendees with hands-on guidance for their projects.

Just prior to the official start of the conference will be several all-day tours of mass timber buildings, manufacturing facilities and forestry areas in Portland and the surrounding areas. The tours require separate registration fees and previous tours have sold out quickly, organizers say.

IWF – the International Woodworking Fair – is an exhibitor at this year’s Mass Timber Conference in Booth 129 in Exhibit Halls C-E. More information on the conference, including registration details, is available at https://masstimberconference.com/.

IWF 2026 will also host a Mass Timber and Prefabricated Construction Product Display Area in Atlanta this August. Located in the A Exhibit Hall, the showcase will present the Mass Timber sector’s newest cross-laminated and glue-laminated products and technologies. Learn about the new showcase.
