A new study points to these states with homeowners “most committed” to upgrading their homes.
Even as many current homeowners are hesitant to leave their low-rate mortgages and move elsewhere those very same people are quite interested in fixing up their current houses.
A new study from the self-storage company SpareFoot identified ten states in the country where remodeling activity is expected to be the most robust. The research is based on online searches for home remodeling projects, including the more common ones like bathroom and kitchen work.
The study found that homeowners in Illinois are most committed to upgrading. Bathroom remodels were the number one researched remodeling term in the state. Following it were Colorado, Maryland, Florida and New Jersey, an interesting balance of geographic areas throughout the country. Rounding out the Top 10 were Connecticut, Virginia, Georgia, Pennsylvania and Washington.
If those are the states most likely to get the attention of remodeling contractors, at the other end of the spectrum were the ones with the least amount of interest in home remodeling. Montana finished at the bottom, with the lowest five states also including Alaska, South Dakota, Idaho and Wyoming.
