The new digital platform is the latest initiative as the big home improvement chain continues to ramp up its pro business efforts.
Called the Project Planning tool, the new platform is designed to help professional renovators, remodelers and specialty tradespeople plan, manage and execute complex projects in real time, the company said. It creates materials lists, tracks orders and deliveries and manages other functions.
The digital platform helps users create materials lists for all their projects, track all orders and deliveries and set their delivery preferences as well as provide pricing and cost estimates, according to the release. It can be accessed on its Pro Online Experience Platform.
“Our Project Planning tool makes it easier than ever for our pro customers to plan, purchase and monitor the status of their complex projects,” said Mike Rowe, executive vice president of pro business for Home Depot in a release announcing the new tool, adding it is “all backed by the full power of The Home Depot’s product assortment and expertise.”
Pro customers account for more than half of the retailer’s overall business, Home Depot has said previously, even as they are only about 10 percent of its total customer base.
This latest initiative has come as Depot has continued to step up its efforts to provide for its pro customers, including the March 2024 purchase of SRS, a materials distributor, as well as other expansions of services to its contractor customers. Its biggest competitor, Lowe’s, is pursuing a similar strategy, through both acquisitions and organic growth.
