The ready-to-assemble furniture resource has launched Sauder Supply to begin servicing other furniture producers as well as cabinet manufacturers.
Sauder Supply is the new initiative from the Archbold, OH-based RTA powerhouse as it seeks to become a B2B supplier to the trade again. “Sauder Supply represents a significant step forward for our company and also is a nod to our past,” Jonathan Zublena, executive vice president of Sauder Building Products, told Furniture Today, the business publication for the industry. “Many of the machine and process innovations we still use in our production today were developed to service B2B customers that were part of our portfolio in the 1960s and 70s.”
The report says that the program will include drawer components, cabinet doors, shelves, panels, closet parts, and laminate sheet stock. Sauder didn’t say where these components will be made but has acknowledged that 90 percent of its products are made at its Ohio facility.
“Returning a portion of our business to OEM supply allows Sauder to leverage our true expertise, designing efficient and creative manufacturing solutions to deliver quality and value to our customers,” Zublena said.
The published report says that Sauder, privately owned and still run by the founding Sauder family, does about $500 million in annual sales with products for the home office, bedroom, kitchen, storage and entertainment sectors.
