Claremont, NC—Furniture maker Ethan Allen acquired Dimension Wood Products, Inc. a Claremont, CA manufacturer of wood frames and machined parts used in upholstered furniture manufacturing.
The move increases Ethan Allen’s vertical integration, and secures its supply of wood components in the heated residential furniture market. Founded in 1981 with $8.5 million in sales, 55-employee Dimension Wood Products was an Ethan Allen supplier. The purchase was made through a subsidiary, Ethan Allen Operations, Inc., and includes certain property, plant, and equipment assets of the company.
The acquisition, says Farooq Kathwari, Ethan Allen CEO, “will help us to further increase our control over raw materials, purchased parts, and labor costs while maintaining our high-quality standards.”
Separately, Corey Whitely, promoted in December 2021 to executive vice president, Operations overseeing manufacturing and logistics, left Ethan Allen in January after 34 years. He served as executive VP, Administration and Chief Financial Officer beginning 2014 and in various other executive vice president roles since 2005. Whitely joined Bennett Pointe, LLC, a Miami, FL business consulting and advisory services firm specializing in multiple verticals in retail, manufacturing, and logistics.
Ethan Allen Interiors, Inc., in business for 90 years, reported $208.1 million in sales for its second quarter, a 16.4 percent increase. The company owns and operates nine facilities including six manufacturing plants in the United States, two manufacturing plants in Mexico and one manufacturing plant in Honduras, with 75 percent of its products made in its North American plants.
