Cabinetry Plus is a Midwest manufacturer of wood cabinets. The wood shop had three dust collectors that were non-compliant units located in the interior of the building. The three separate systems were loud, decentralized, difficult to maintain and unable to deliver the correct CFM and velocity capacity.
IWF 2022 exhibitor IVEC Systems’ Steward control system and a Belfab central dust collector were installed and ducted in compliance with all regulations. The Steward control system starts the dust collector blower automatically, opens and closes gates at the various processes, and delivers the correct CFM. IVEC Steward continues to monitor the duct velocities in real time.
With the IVEC Steward system installed, the system starts and stops automatically, guaranteeing ventilation at the wood devices, maintaining capacity at every drop and saving energy. Cabinetry Plus chose the IVEC Steward option.
The Steward control system:
-Starts the dust collector as the wood working processes start
-Opens duct gates as new/additional equipment comes on-line
-Monitors and maintains duct velocity by adjusting the blower motor horsepower to ensure compliance with NFPA -664 requirements. In addition, by slowing the motor when fewer operations are running, and turning the system off automatically, IVEC Steward significantly reduces energy costs.
The Results:
-Increased capacity due to automation
-Guaranteed velocities through duct monitoring (provides compliance to NFPA 664 with full Hp install)
-Energy savings of more than 60% vs. standard unit (30 Hp unit typically running at 15 Hp or less)
-More than double filter life vs. standard system
-Collector in central exterior location for ease of maintenance
-Reduced noise & maintenance
About IVEC Systems
In 2007, a team of industry experts was assembled to design a state-of-the-art ventilation control system that would offer customers a “better choice” in controlling dust collection and mist filtration systems. The team achieved its goal, but went on to include system features that are currently unsurpassed in the dust collection controller industry.
This Team soon became a company that was launched as IVEC® Systems (Intelligent Ventilation Energy Controls) and is rapidly creating a name for itself as the “standard in the industry” for dust collection controllers.
IVEC Systems is located in Southeastern Wisconsin and offers complete control systems and installations for a wide range of applications.
With successful installations in the US and internationally, IVEC® Systems offers five models to cover needs ranging from the small shop applications to complex facilities with hundreds of automated workstations. IVEC® Systems even offers systems geared primarily for ambient air filtration requirements.
Notably, IVEC Systems provides guidance on project funding sources through its Grants & Incentives Team to assist firms in qualifying for money-saving federal grants, incentives, and rebates that are often made available by the federal government.
All IVEC controls components are designed, assembled and rigorously tested in the U.S. to ensure “intelligent efficiency” is built into every system.
