RESTON, VA - Cabinet manufacturers reported a decrease in overall cabinet sales of 1.8% for June 2020 compared to the same month in 2019, according to the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association (KCMA)’s monthly Trend of Business Survey of participating manufacturers.
Custom sales are down 0.2%, semi-custom decreased 11.1%, and stock sales increased 4.4%. Survey participants include stock, semi-custom, and custom companies whose combined sales represent approximately 75 percent of the U.S. kitchen cabinet and bath vanity market.
When looking at the month-to-month comparison, cabinet sales were up 24.3% in June 2020 compared to May. Custom sales increased 18.1%; semi-custom sales increased 21%; and stock sales increased 27.7% compared to the previous month.
Overall year-to-date cabinet sales are down 3.9%. Custom sales decreased 4.8%, semi-custom sales are down 9.7%, and stock sales are up slightly at 0.5% YTD.
KCMA is the major trade association for kitchen cabinet and bath vanity manufacturers and key suppliers of goods and services to the industry. All major U.S. cabinet manufacturing companies belong to KCMA. Sixty-three percent of KCMA cabinet manufacturer members report sales below $10 million annually, reflecting the importance of small manufacturers in the industry. KCMA has been compiling and reporting industry sales data for more than forty years.
