Co-produced by Plastics Distributor and Fabricator Magazine and Georgia Tech Advanced Wood Products Lab

Speakers will discuss the importance of proper tooling and specific machinery options necessary for achieving a quality edge finish on both hard and soft advanced materials including thermoplastic materials. Both routing and sawing of plastics will be discussed.

Speakers will also provide an overview of the use of advanced materials in architectural applications utilizing CNC technology for manufacturing processes. Speakers will discuss techniques in manufacturing processes and design applications of advanced materials such as: pvcs, resins, acrylics, mdf, quartz, synthetics spun cast fiber reinforced polymer (FRP), cellular PVC and engineered flat panel products.  The session will target both wood processors interested in cutting plastics and plastic fabricators interested in increasing productivity and enhancing edge finish and part quality to serve new and developing markets.

Attendees will gain a better knowledge of the Advanced Materials under consideration for processing.  Individuals unfamiliar with cutting thermoplastics will learn the basic principles for cutting hard and soft thermoplastic materials.  Individuals familiar with cutting thermoplastics will learn ways to refine their processing skills through discussion of common problems and solutions that will enhance edge finish and product quality.

Who Should Attend?  Production and management personnel from both wood processors interested in cutting plastics and plastic fabricators interested in increasing productivity and enhancing edge finish and part quality to serve new and developing markets.
