Date: Wednesday, August 22nd from 9:00 AM - 10:30 AM
Session Code: BMG31
Presented by: Architectural Woodwork Institute - AWI
Speaker: Doug Hague, Education Director: Architectural Woodwork Institute
Many talks preach the importance of reaching the next generation and the skills gap. This session plans to address these needs with action items that can be implemented within your facility and provide the encouragement to get started. Discussion will include local opportunities and national opportunities. This conversation will provide perspective from both the employers point of view as well as understanding the view point of the mentee. Much like the major leagues, some of your best talent is home grown but there must be a process and training involved!
Doug’s efforts have been recognized by WMIA, with the esteemed award of Educator of the Year, and was a recipient of the Woodworking Network inaugural 40 under 40 Award. His passion is in the woodworking industry and the career opportunities that exist. His volunteer work includes many industry committees and serving as Wood Technology Industry Institute, President and Instructor of “Boot Camp”.
